Vacancy – Bass Voice

Academix are sad to announce that, after 5 and a half years of wonderful music, our fantastic Bass, Neil has decided to take a break from the group. Neil has contributed so much to Academix as a singer, organiser and arranger. He is also the best friend and colleague we could ask for.

Consequently we are now looking for a:

Bass voice (6 month temporary position with a possibility of permanent)

This is an opportunity for a male singer to perform with one of the leading amateur ‘a cappella’ groups in the South East of England. You will be singing with an experienced five person a cappella group.

We would love to hear from you if you are:

  • Comfortable singing from a low D (D2) up to a high E (E4, in chest or head voice)
  • Able to sing (on & off mic) with good intonation
  • Versatile (able to sing a range of styles from folk to jazz and pop)
  • Adaptable (able to front a song as lead singer, or blend into backing vocals)
  • Confident to sing one to a part and ‘a cappella’
  • Willing to memorise songs and perform off copy
  • Available to practice once a month during the day (weekends)
  • Available to perform a small number of gigs (and maybe do some recording!)
  • Able to sight-read music
  • Some experience with vocal percussion would be an advantage

We are based in Woking but don’t let that put you off as we now have 2 members in Dorset! Find out more at https://www.academix.org.uk.

Don’t be put off by the the person specification above, we are all amateur singers who are still learning and improving together and encourage each other to achieve the best we can!

If you are interested in applying (or know someone who is!) please contact us at info@academix.org.uk for an informal chat or PM us via our Facebook page.
